Gaps & Opportunities Memo Discussion
The Board discussed the Gaps & Opportunities Memo during their monthly meeting. After the discussion it was clear that the Board and the Steering Committee are aligned in direction and work can continue as planned. It was determined that the plan would be presented at the Oct. 18 board meeting and voted on in the Nov. 15 board meeting.
Implementation Teams Meetings
The Steering Committee presented the objectives and overview of the Strategic Plan work at an all-staff meeting. Individual implementation teams met in small groups after the presentation to further discuss the initiatives. Implementation teams will continue to meet to discuss the strategic plan work and solidify action plans.
The Steering Committee had a productive on-site workshop to solidify the strategic initiatives and start developing action plans in preparation for launching implementation teams.
Gaps & Opportunities Memo Presentation
Marc Futterman, of Civic Technologies, took a deep dive into the data and market segmentation of our District. The Steering Committee had a data and market segmentation workshop to go over the findings from all data collected. Based on the findings Marc created the Gaps & Opportunities Memo and shared it with the Board.
Winnetka Caucus Council’s Annual Survey
Please participate in the Winnetka Caucus Council’s Annual Survey to provide input on Library Services for our Strategic Plan.
As part of our commitment to being responsive to our community, we have embarked on a new strategic plan that will guide our Library District for the next three to five years. The plan will provide us with valuable information about our community and allow us to focus our efforts, time, and resources in ways that add value to the patrons we serve.
We are partnering with the Winnetka Caucus Council to solicit feedback from our community through their 2021 Annual Survey. The Annual Survey is live now, through midnight on Sunday, June 14, and includes questions about library services that will help shape the future of the District and create a roadmap for success.
Both Winnetka & Northfield residents are encouraged to take the survey.
Our Next Strategic Plan
As part of our commitment to being responsive to our community, we have embarked on a new strategic plan that will guide our library district for the next three to five years. The plan will provide us with valuable information about our community and allow us to focus our efforts, time, and resources in ways that add value to the patrons we serve.
To help us with the process, we have hired an independent consultant, Marc Futterman of CIVICTechnologies. Marc has extensive experience working with public libraries on data-driven strategic plans and with his help, we expect to be able to complete and start implementing a new strategic plan in September 2021.
This will be a multifaceted process which will include the input of community members, local leaders, and library staff. It is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of the District and create a roadmap for success. An internal Steering Committee has been established to help facilitate the planning process. One member was selected from each department with the goal of involving staff with various experiences and backgrounds. Members include Monica Dombrowski, Sydney Clark, Lindsay Goldstein, Steve Kline, Nick Mall, Sarah Quish, Mark Swenson, Courtney Volny and Nicola White.
