Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library enrich and enhance the library experience for the residents of the Library District. This special group of volunteers supports extraordinary projects. Annual, memorial, honorary and other donations are accepted throughout the year. To date, the Friends have raised over $300,000. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Friends.

The Friends are recognized by the IRS as a 501c3 organization. Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law. Support your Library and community!

If you wish to make a memorial donation there is a notes field you may enter in your details when submitting your donation.

One Book Two Villages Author Events

One Book Two Villages, an annualevent that brings our communities together by reading and discussing a common book, and the Train Station Book Exchange are just a few examples of the Friends’ accomplishments.

Library programs funded all or in part by Friends of the Library support include:

  • Children’s storytimes and family entertainment programs
  • Summer reading programs
  • Historical dramatic performances
  • Art, travel, food and cooking programs
  • Book clubs for all ages
  • Cultural and educational lectures
  • One Book Two Villages Author events

The Winnetka-Northfield Public Library District Foundation has been dissolved. Donations may be made to directly to the Winnetka-Northfield Public Library District or given to the Friends of the Library. For more information regarding donations please contact Library Director Monica Dombrowski (
