<item><title>Winnetka Parking Lot Closed </title><link>http://www.winnetkalibrary.org/blog?section=blog&amp;id=159</link><description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;The &lt;a href=&quot;/contact-us/Location&quot;&gt;Winnetka Library&lt;/a&gt;&amp;nbsp;parking lot is closed. &lt;/strong&gt;Crews are completing work to manage storm water and reduce future flood risk.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The parking lot will be closed from Monday, May 6 through Thursday, May 9.  The parking lot is expected to be open again on Friday, May 10.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The book drop at the Winnetka Library may be temporarily obstructed. Books and other library materials may be returned inside the Winnetka Library or to other area libraries. If you have any issue returning an item, please call the Winnetka Library at (847) 446-7220.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;To assist Library patrons, temporary parking has been established by the Village of Winnetka on Linden Street at the following locations:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ul style=&quot;margin-left: 1em;&quot;&gt;
&lt;li&gt;The east side of Linden Street, immediately north of the Library entrance;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;The west side of Linden Street, immediately south of Oak Street; and&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;The east side of Linden Street, south of the Library entrance.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;During the construction period, signs will indicate these spaces are for &quot;Library Patrons Only.&quot;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;If these parking spaces are full, it is recommended that Library patrons use the 90-minute free parking on Oak Street or in the center aisle of the Village Hall lot (just south of Village Hall facing Oak). &lt;p&gt;We're pleased to welcome the Music Institute of Chicago's Advanced Trumpet Ensemble for a special concert to welcome &lt;a href=&quot;/about-us/LibraryNews&quot;&gt;Rebecca Wolf&lt;/a&gt;, the library's new director, to the community.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The award-winning brass quartet has played throughout the Chicagoland area and will perform music from the 17th - 19th centuries as well as modern repertoire.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;After the show, join the library's new director, Rebecca Wolf, for cake and coffee. &lt;p&gt;Soon, new lighting and furniture will be installed. When completed, the north area of the Mezzanine level will be a comfortable place to read and work. &lt;p&gt;The Board of Trustees of the Winnetka-Northfield Public Library District voted last night to appoint Rebecca Wolf Library Director, effective April 15, 2013.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Wolf currently serves as Assistant Library Director for the Deerfield Public Library in Deerfield, IL, where she oversees four departments and leads the library&amp;rsquo;s long-range technology planning. Prior to joining the Deerfield Public Library in 2007, Wolf was Circulation Manager at the Lincolnwood Public Library in Lincolnwood, IL.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Wolf earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois and a Master of Library and Information Science degree from Dominican University.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;ldquo;Rebecca brings impressive experience, leadership skills, and enthusiasm to the library district,&amp;rdquo; said Bob Sanfilippo, President of the Board of Trustees. &amp;ldquo;Public libraries today operate in an environment of tremendous change. With her strong track record in library technology and service, we are confident that under Rebecca&amp;rsquo;s guidance our libraries will continue to meet the evolving needs of our residents.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In accepting the position, Wolf said, &amp;ldquo;I am truly thrilled to be coming to the Winnetka-Northfield Public Library District. I look forward to working with the creative, community-focused, and forward-thinking library staff and Board of Trustees to find new and innovative ways to deliver library services that build on a tradition of excellence.&amp;rdquo;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Juli Janovicz, Head of Adult Services and Assistant Library Director, was appointed Interim Library Director last August. The Board of Trustees thanks Juli for her dedication and hard work over the past seven months and looks forward to her continued contributions to the library.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Winnetka-Northfield Public Library District serves a population of 17,500 Winnetka and Northfield residents.
