Dine & Discuss: "As I Lay Dying"
- Horror, Laughter, Loss, Revelation: Reveries on Faulkner's As I Lay Dying
This short masterwork focuses farm wife Addie Bundren's dying and attempts to bury her - and the participation and effects of that on her family and countrymen and women nearby. Its short, vivid, multi-perspectived chapters form a kaleidoscope of meaning, feeling, tonality - from prostrating grief to outright disgust to laugh-out-loud bogglement and horror. We will explore some of its wonders.
