The Library offers two ways to reserve items online. You can use
the online catalog, or
the Online Request form.
Placing your hold in the catalog directly enters your request immediately into our system. If the catalog indicates that an item is on shelf you may get it faster if you contact us directly by phone or email rather than placing a hold in the catalog.
After you’ve used the online catalog to find the item you want, click on the “Place a Hold” button.
You will be asked to provide your library barcode and password. If you have never logged in before you will be asked to create an account with a regular username, which will be easier to remember than your barcode. If you've never changed it, your password is the word patron, although it is highly recommended that you change your password to something more secure.> in capital letters.
You can choose to pick up your book at the Winnetka Library or the Northfield Branch.
Using our online request form will send an email to the reference desk and if a copy is on the shelf staff should be able to put it aside quickly for you. Unfortunately, because this sends an email, we have occasionally had problems with these messages getting incorrectly identified as spam or not getting through properly. If you do not hear back from us within 24 hours, please call us and let us know so we can try and correct any problem with our system.
Use the online request form at the bottom of this page if you know the title and/or author of the books (book on cassette, book on CD, videocassette/DVD, or music) that you want.
At the bottom of this page, choose the number of books you wish to request and click on the "Select" button. You will then be taken to the Online Request Form. You need to fill in all the fields in
bold. After you have filled out the form, click on the "Submit Form" button. Please note that by pressing the "Clear Form" button you will erase all the information on the form.
You will receive an e-mail within 24 hours confirming that your Online Request Form was received and processed. The Library will call you once your book (book on tape, book on CD, video/DVD, or music) is available for pick-up. You must pick up your book either at the Main Library or at the Northfield Branch.
