Program Coordinator

The Winnetka-Northfield Public Library District seeks a collaborative, creative and energetic part-time Program Coordinator. This is a marketing support position that is primarily responsible for collecting and analyzing data and trends for development, planning workflows and evaluation of library programs for all ages. Candidates must be highly organized, have excellent interpersonal communication skills and be capable of working autonomously.

This is a part-time, 20-25 hours per week non-exempt position with benefits, including IMRF pension, sick days and vacation benefits. The position requires working three to four regularly scheduled days a week, which may including occasional nights and weekends. This position reports to the Head of Communications and Marketing. This is an opportunity to become part of a fast-paced marketing and communications team at a busy library on Chicago’s North Shore.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least one year of professional work experience
  • Excellent working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • This position requires a comfort level speaking before a group and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to transform statistical data and numbers into understandable information through charts and written summaries to provide meaningful and actionable recommendations
  • Ability to work with others professionally, follow policies, and work in support of management decisions in a positive manner
  • Ability to adapt to change, stay organized and meet deadlines while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starting; comfortable working autonomously on assigned projects. Excellent time management skills
  • Adjust schedule to include evening or weekends when necessary to accommodate library needs
  • Reliable mode of private or public transportation to and from work in the library district

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with prospective and confirmed program presenters
  • Create annual and quarterly programming calendars for recurring and new events
  • Create reports that identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in programming type and attendance from existing library data sources
  • Coordinates the reporting of programming data and maintains systems to manage that data
  • Identify trends in regional library programming and create a database of ideas and contacts for future program scheduling
  • Create and maintain:
    Local school and community organization calendars
    Email lists of local school and community group contacts
    Targeted email lists to promote library events
  • Support other staff members in planning and marketing programs under the direction of the Head of Communications and Marketing
  • Provide data for evaluating library programs
  • Coordinates outreach opportunities for the district
  • Attends and participates in staff, department and other job-related meetings
  • Represents the library in pertinent professional, educational and community activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Hours: 20-25 hours

Salary: Hourly rate from $15.24 based on experience.

Part Time Circulation and Interlibrary Loan Services Clerk

We are looking for a friendly, approachable “people person” who enjoys working with all ages to join the Winnetka-Northfield circulation desk staff. This person would work 15-18 hours per week including daytime, evening and weekend hours. They also would rotate shifts between both the Winnetka Library and Northfield Branch.

The candidate we are seeking to hire is detailed-orientated, values customer service, a self-starter and someone who likes to continuously learn new skills. As part of the circulation staff they will have opportunities to promote new and exciting library services and participate in various library events and activities. One of their duties will be to help promote the Studio, the Library’s new makerspace.

Required qualifications include: High School Diploma or equivalent, one year experience in a library or similar experience, demonstrated good customer service skills, computer literacy with current MS Office proficiency, some knowledge of smartphones, tablets, and laptops, demonstrated cash handling skills, and the ability to work weekends and evenings.

Salary: $12.24 per hour

The Winnetka Library is looking for a part-time page/shelver. Duties include the shelving of library materials, shelf reading, shifting materials, and other tasks as assigned. Schedule to be determined. Pleasant and helpful demeanor a must.

Salary: $9.00 per hour

Hours: Part Time, 10 to 18 hours per week, evenings and weekends
